Rescue Me ID: 17-05-30-00540Sugar Glider (female)

Small Mammal    Age: Young Adult

Meet Stella and Phoebe! They are both about one year old. They are tame enough for me to handle and play with them. They are not bonded yet. I have had them around each other, but they are not quite ready to be in the same cage. I would prefer them to go together, but I think they would be fine split up since they are not yet completely bonded to each other. I would prefer you to have experience dealing with sugar gliders or at least have done extensive research on these fascinating little creatures. They both will come with a cage and accessories. I am only considering giving them away because I don't have the room or time (starting ... (Read More)occupational therapy school) to care for them properly anymore. Please contact me with any questions! I will only give them away if I feel like they are going to a safe and loving home. I want my sweet babies to be taken care of! I am currently living around Jackson, MS, but I am willing to bring them further north of MS in Grenada. **The adoption fee is $300 to ensure these girls will go to someone who is serious about adopting them. For $300, you get the 2 sugar gliders, 2 cages with all accessories, 5 bonding pouches, a tent to get in and bond with them, and other various stuff I have for them! I have easily spent over $1000 on all of it. A sugar glider alone costs $200+, but you should already be aware of this if you have actually looked into getting one. Please feel free to email me if you are interested or have any questions!! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-01-00029Guinea Pig (female)

Small Mammal    Age: Young Adult

Meet Lucy! She is a 3 year old guinea pig who is half white and half black. She loves parsley and cherry tomatoes with the seeds removed. She requires a handful of Timothy hay daily and guinea pig pellets. She likes having her head and nose petted. She likes watching cartoons, just don't pick her up without her being in her little tunnel hut. I

PIease Read Before Adopting Rodents & Small Mammal in Mississippi
Rodents & Small Mammals can make good pets in Mississippi if they match your IifestyIe. Rodents are small mammals with four sharp teeth they use to eat, gnaw wood, and defend themselves. Several types of rodents are popular pets, such as chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs. Even rats are kept as pets! Rodents are often purchased as gifts for children. Sadly, however, many owners of rodent pets do not know how to care for them properly, and young children are often unprepared for the responsibility of having a pet. Families may not approach the purchase of a rodent with the same level of commitment they would have to a pet dog or cat. Mistakes can be made regarding the genders of a pair of rodents, resulting in a litter of unexpected babies. Some owners of rodents simply turn their pets loose when they get tired of them, which usually leads to the death of the animals, since they are not adapted to life in the wild. Free to good home ads can result in a rodent being used for snake food. There are some rodent rescue operations out there that can receive discarded pets, but these places tend to become overloaded due to so many people getting rid of their rodents. Please approach all decisions to get a pet with a long-term commitment, and pursue adoption rather than buying a rodent from a pet store.
