Animal ID: extreme mosaic female 7 mo.chinchilla (female)

Small Mammal    Age: Young Adult

We have a mosaic female chinchilla who's looking for her new home. She came to the rescue just a bit ago, and is now ready to leave and go to a family of her own. This girl was actually set to leave several times, but the people who had her on hold all vanished into thin air'| and we passed up other adoptions due to her being on hold! Well darn! She would have preferred being in a home already. She was born around 3/1, which makes her about 7 months old now. Her color is called extreme mosaic. The 'extreme' part is because she has such dark, distinct markings, noticeably on her face and upper body. As you can see, she is white ... (Read More)with grey and black markings. She's a big girl - lots to love! While she can be a bit energetic at times, she does just fine with being handled and petted, and calms down after being held for a bit. She would likely enjoy playtime now that she's old enough! Sweet girl, doesn't bite. She would make a great 'first chinchilla' for someone who's never had one before, as long as you understand that she definitely is more of an active girl. This chinchilla is currently caged alone. However, if you interested in pairing her up with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we'll see what we can do. This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (Tradition pellets), a goodie bag of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. She will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between. Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions. This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). We can ship chinchillas to an airport near you! Inquire for more info. The adoption fee for this extreme mosaic female chinchilla is $250 For more info and pictures, visit our website - http://www.nwichinchillas.com/availablechinchillas.htm If you are interested in this chinchilla, or have any questions, please let us know. We also do have other chinchillas and other small animals up for adoption as well. You can email us at amgajda@sbcglobal.net or call 219-789-0026 for more information or if you have any questions. If you call and there is no answer, please leave a message and we will get back to you. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting Rodents & Small Mammal in Indiana
Rodents & Small Mammals can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. Rodents are small mammals with four sharp teeth they use to eat, gnaw wood, and defend themselves. Several types of rodents are popular pets, such as chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs. Even rats are kept as pets! Rodents are often purchased as gifts for children. Sadly, however, many owners of rodent pets do not know how to care for them properly, and young children are often unprepared for the responsibility of having a pet. Families may not approach the purchase of a rodent with the same level of commitment they would have to a pet dog or cat. Mistakes can be made regarding the genders of a pair of rodents, resulting in a litter of unexpected babies. Some owners of rodents simply turn their pets loose when they get tired of them, which usually leads to the death of the animals, since they are not adapted to life in the wild. Free to good home ads can result in a rodent being used for snake food. There are some rodent rescue operations out there that can receive discarded pets, but these places tend to become overloaded due to so many people getting rid of their rodents. Please approach all decisions to get a pet with a long-term commitment, and pursue adoption rather than buying a rodent from a pet store.

Rodents have front teeth that never stop growing and have to be worn down constantly by gnawing. Rodents are one of only a few types of placental mammals native to Australia. Rabbits are not rodents.
