Animal ID: dark ebony male chinchillachinchilla (male)

Small Mammal    Age: Baby

We have a dark ebony male chinchilla who's looking for his new home. He came to NWI a little bit ago, and is now ready to leave and go to a family of his own. He was born around 3/7/17, making him right around 3 months old. His color is called dark ebony, which is a dark black coloration that wraps around his entire body, including his belly! He is an energetic boy. He wants to check out everything around him! Definitely a more active boy. He does just fine with being handled and petted, but would rather go out and explore, and will do so, while you're trying to hold him. He was beaten up by siblings as a baby, hence the funky ... (Read More)looking ear and the white dots on his fur, most noticeable by his eyes), which are due to scar tissue. This will not affect him in any way, in the future, and gives him character! We love him regardless! Super sweet, just definitely active. Doesn't bite. This chinchilla would make a great 'first chinchilla' for someone who's never had one before. This chinchilla is currently caged alone. However, if you interested in pairing him up with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we'll see what we can do. This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (Tradition pellets), a goodie bag of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between. Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions. This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship. The adoption fee for this dark ebony male chinchilla is $200. For more info and pictures, visit our website - http://www.nwichinchillas.com/availablechinchillas.htm If you are interested in this chinchilla, or have any questions, please let us know. We also do have other chinchillas and other small animals up for adoption as well. You can email us at amgajda@sbcglobal.net or call 219-789-0026 for more information or if you have any questions. If you call and there is no answer, please leave a message and we will get back to you. (Less)

Animal ID: 4m sapphire female hamster tailchinchilla (female)

Small Mammal    Age: Baby

We have a sapphire female chinchilla who's looking for her new home. She came to NWI just a bit ago, and is now ready to leave and go to a family of her own. This girl was born around 2/7/2017, making her right around 4 months old. Her color is called sapphire. This is a light, blueish grey color in chinchillas. We almost never have sapphires in, so here's your chance to adopt something unique! In addition to her color being unique, she has a small 'hamster tail,' which we believe is a result of a birthing injury. It does not affect her in the slightest, and actually, it gives her character! It makes her look like a really big, ... (Read More)really fluffy, hamster. Sweet girl. For a sapphire, she has an awesome personality. She actually does well with being handled and petted, and sits nicely in your arms and actually seems to enjoy being petted for short periods of time. Super super sweet girl. We just love her to death and the tail just adds character! You know you want to take her home. She likes to snuggle in the crook of your arm. Doesn't bite. She would make a great 'first chinchilla' for someone who's never had one before. This chinchilla is currently caged alone. However, if you interested in pairing her up with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we'll see what we can do. This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (Tradition pellets), a goodie bag of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions. This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). We can ship chinchillas from Chicago O'Hare, to a major airport near you. Inquire if interested. The fee for this sapphire female chinchilla kit is $250 For more info and pictures, visit our website - http://www.nwichinchillas.com/availablechinchillas.htm If you are interested in this chinchilla, or have any questions, please let us know. Animal ID: 5m white mosaic female chinchillachinchilla (female)

Small Mammal    Age: Baby

We have a mosaic female chinchilla that is looking for her new home. She came to NWI a bit ago, and we have down that she was born around 12/22/16. This makes her right around 5 months old, and now is a perfect time for you to take her home and make her part of your family! In fact, the only reason she's still here is because we've had a number of people not show up for their appointments where they're supposed to come take her home, when they had her on hold'| but we know you'll love her and show up right away! This girl's color is called mosaic, which is basically a white chinchilla with greyish markings. As you can see from her ... (Read More)pictures, she's an absolute poofball'| mostly white with just a bit of grey, most noticeably on her tail and a little on her face. She is a super sweet girl. She's very outgoing, and we just love her! Fluffy and cuddly, and a very nice chin! She does great with being handled and petted, and will sit pretty nicely in your arms for you to pet her. Very sweet girl. Doesn't bite. This girl is a slight fur chewer. It's minor enough that she doesn't do it all the time, and it's hard to see in pictures, but from time to time she will chew her fur. This is only cosmetic in nature, and is not a health concern - it's similar to a human biting their fingernails, as a bad habit. It will not affect her in the future, except that you might notice a little chewing on her hips, from time to time. This chinchilla is currently living alone, and we do not know if she gets along with other chinchillas. If you are curious as to whether she might get along with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we'll see what we can do. This chinchilla would make a great 'first chinchilla' for someone who's never had chinchillas before. This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. She will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between. PIease Read Before Adopting Rodents & Small Mammal in Indiana
Rodents & Small Mammals can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. Rodents are small mammals with four sharp teeth they use to eat, gnaw wood, and defend themselves. Several types of rodents are popular pets, such as chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs. Even rats are kept as pets! Rodents are often purchased as gifts for children. Sadly, however, many owners of rodent pets do not know how to care for them properly, and young children are often unprepared for the responsibility of having a pet. Families may not approach the purchase of a rodent with the same level of commitment they would have to a pet dog or cat. Mistakes can be made regarding the genders of a pair of rodents, resulting in a litter of unexpected babies. Some owners of rodents simply turn their pets loose when they get tired of them, which usually leads to the death of the animals, since they are not adapted to life in the wild. Free to good home ads can result in a rodent being used for snake food. There are some rodent rescue operations out there that can receive discarded pets, but these places tend to become overloaded due to so many people getting rid of their rodents. Please approach all decisions to get a pet with a long-term commitment, and pursue adoption rather than buying a rodent from a pet store.

Rodents have front teeth that never stop growing and have to be worn down constantly by gnawing. Rodents are one of only a few types of placental mammals native to Australia. Rodents make up the order of mammals with the largest number of species in the world. Rabbits are not rodents.
